UI Change Rollbacks
API
Many people have expressed dislike for the recent changes to the UIs of maps and duels, citing both performance issues and just a general dislike for how they look. Given how unpopular they seem to be to the greater GeoGuessr community, I think these changes should be rolled back as much as possible, within reason. The biggest complaints have been the general duels UI and performance, the placement of the like button on maps, and the map UI. If this is not possible, I would like an explanation as to why not and why the changes were put in place in the first place, as I don't think there was much of a demand. Thanks in advance!

I don't have a problem with the UI itself, but the performance gets noticeably worse every update even with animations off. I can't play duels anymore because the map takes so long to load.

I personally don't have that much of a problem with the new UI, but the new pins are awful. Also, I know the devs don't want to rollback the new UI (mostly because it works better for marketing) BUT, I would guess that implementing an option to go back to the new ui is of no harm, right? Like you can change between maps, why can't you be able to change UI's?

Santi I wonder if it's even true that it works better for marketing. Geoguessr is a game that attracts new players because of 1) its gameplay, and 2) its community. Wouldn't making decisions that acknowledge community preferences and earning a reputation for being responsive to its players' wants be a much better long-term marketing strategy for Geoguessr?
Santi
heehee I dont think so because we are already a established community and their aim is to market to new players. They believe the new UI looks more "video-game-like" and its also why it was paired with the Steam release.
API
Santi Do you know in which ways they see the new UI as more "video-game-like"?

I agree with this post, especially regarding the results screen issues. I'd like to add:
* The pin UI on the results screen should be reverted to match the pins used during gameplay. This inconsistency is particularly problematic because we rely on the results screen to improve our gameplay, and having different pin designs between gameplay and results causes visual discrepancies in perceived locations.
Thanks!
