Same Google Maps for everyone regardless of language
Major Bajor
Different languages for google maps provide different information. For example, the english google maps provides script transcriptions for towns in India.
The Japanese version provides the prefecture names in Kanji, while other languages don't.
For an even playing field, it would be better if every player used the same map to guess on.
Canadagraphs
I have watched German players, and it translates Indian names there too. So it isnt an English exclusive map.
As for the Japanese one. You really think someone playing on a JP map doesnt already know the prefectures?
What "same map" would you expect everyone to use?English? If so, how do you expect someone that only knows Cyrillic to play the game? Or someone that only knows Japanese to play? etc etc. You can not force people from other cultures to play on your map because you feel entitled to everyone having to speak YOUR language. WTF?
Major Bajor
Canadagraphs It does not translate Indian names (see the screenshot).
Every somewhat decent geoguessr player can read latin script. And at a high level, it's important to have an even playing field.
Canadagraphs
Major Bajor Perhaps take that up with google then if it isnt working on your computer. But expecting the rest of the world to play on YOUR preferred language is ignorant, and insane.
Major Bajor
Canadagraphs you're not really the brightest right? The German and Japanese map are just two examples.
And the language doesn't matter, it's just placenames, not actual natural text.
You're probably just a scripter trying to find excuses to have unfair competitive advantages.
