Imo... the multiplier should only apply if the closest person gets the correct country. Its annoying when someone beats you in Sweden when the correct answer was actually Finland. You get the correct country but they are closer....
WanderLust
Max Wright Why would it matter? A lot of places look similar near borders. The point of duels is to get as close as possible, not to get the right country. We have BR countries for that.
Stutri2du
Agree! The format should be the same as Weekly Comp.... No X and a cap of 7 rounds

Stutri2du No lol it shouldn’t

For a simple fix or at least improvement, I would suggest keeping everything as it is, except reduce the maximum damage per round to 3000 HP. The multipliers still kick in but if you take 1000 damage on 4x then instead of 4000 damage, it's 3000 damage. It's basically a singular safety net against mega-merchanting.
Shadow
No, no one has time for a 30 minute game. That's what would happen in high rating games when 2 good players keep guessing really close to eachother.
Henrik
Shadow Well, you can guess whenever you want and then your opponent has only 15 seconds left…
Shadow
Henrik would still be close most of the rounds
Henrik
I think a time limit would be a good idea. Maybe 1 minute per round.

I think we should just make the multis increase at a lower rate
WanderLust
Nah, let them be. Multis incentivise players to learn smaller countries. Why would anyone bother to find the exact town in Slovakia or learn to read Bengali if the maximum number of points you could get for that was like 100-200? Multis matter!
Kris
WanderLust Fully agreed!
RockyReef250
Multis aren't necessarily the problem. I think the lack of damage limit is a problem though. Like you shouldn't receive 234523 damage for one mistake or just because your opponent rando-guessed well. I think that a 3000 max damage is a good enough reward for making a much better guess than your opponent.
RockyReef250
* I should say "much better guess than your opponent and/or a slightly better guess than your opponent on large multis."
Rob_Ee17
WanderLust If multis are the only incentive for players to learn smaller countries, that is just bad design. Gameplay lacking depth. As it is, those things still only matter if those rounds randomly occur in late rounds.
The whole issue is that players are not rewarded very much at all for amazing guesses, like knowing town names and such, in the first 4-5 rds comparatively.

Anson Wow, what an argument…

Yes, please, these multipliers are very confusing and not user friendly at all!!
