i think there are to many people in the champion division. the #1 ranked player currently is 2300 rated (with Radu C and Geooo hitting 2400) while i, a low rated champ player am only 1250 rated, thats an 1100 elo difference, I dont feel like being ''the highest rank'' as these players are obviously way better. I dont mind if its a rank above champ or between champ and masters but i definitely think it should happen.

They recently expanded the number of divisions (now 4 each of Bronze, Silver, Gold, Master) so I imagine in some time it will become harder to hit Champion.

By looking at the champion rank the elo difference first and last (600 people) is about 1000 which is a lot, i think adding a new rank and calling grand champion or something, would be great, 1k difference in champion feels a bit far too much, dont you think? let me know!

This week there were people reaching Champion with just 970 rating, and the first place has 2300 — a difference of 1330! It’s absolutely unbelievable that GeoGuessr still hasn’t split the Champion rank into 2 or even 3 tiers. TRULY UNBELIEVABLE, this should’ve been done urgently.

Why do people have to treat rank as some weird status to flex, this game is already filled with enough toxic weirdos as it is, and matchmaking is elo based anyway so I see 0 gain besides pseudo-elitism...

isn't pairing based on rank, not division? If so why does it even matter?

Yup i feel like anyone who takes the game at least a bit seriously can reach champion. Doesn't feel rewarding at all.

Back in the old system, I recommended a new division at 1400 for them, and 1 of the devs mocked it saying "theres only 6 people at 1400", and I told him there would be 60 within the year, it turned out there was over 100 within a few months.
Here we are 2+ years later, and players DOUBLING the cut off point for relegation.....and no new division.
It is SO STUPID there isnt one at 1400 or 1500 still.
I am also in Champion division in the high 1200s, and I know the skill gap from me to a 1500 is still notable enough that I would lose a best of 7 to them 4-0 or at worst 4-1. I shouldnt be considered in the same division as them, let alone a 2300.
There is honestly even an argument to be made for 2 divisions now. 1400/1500, and 1700/1800

Canadagraphs I voted in favor of this request but I still would have taken the devs side in your story. It is totally sensible to not create a division for

players even if there will eventually be more. I would want to wait till it makes sense to make the new division. They just recently added new divisions btw, we'll see how it impacts things.

definitely needed! I don’t know why they have still not done this. As a 1400 rated player I want a new rank to go for maybe around 1800 would be a good bar
