Matchmaking to be based on gamemode specific rating
Brainy
When matchmaking for a specific gamemode (e.g. moving) you should be placed against others that have a similiar moving rating. This would create much more fair games. The current system discourages playing other modes as someone with a very high overall rating due to being good at NMPZ or NM will almost always lose if they play moving.

This has already been said by others, but I'll add my experience. I got to low champ almost exclusively playing NM, then tried Moving and NMPZ just to mix it up, and my rating tanked 200+ very quickly. Afterward, my Moving and NMPZ games felt much more competitive, but then my NM games felt too easy.
I would say all three modes are actually quite different from each other, and each requires different kind of practicing.

Matchmaking based on specific mode elo

I am one of those players whose skills in one mode of duels are way higher than in others. To be specific, I am a way better moving player than NM or NMPZ. However, sometimes I want to play NM or NMPZ duels to get better at those modes as well. The problem is, if I get to 1,450 by playing moving, then slump down to around 1,200 after a few NMPZ duels because of how bad I am and if I come back to moving, I will be playing lower-rated player, and it feels like I am smurfing. My idea is to base matchmaking on rating that you have for a specific mode. Say, if my NMPZ rating is 1,150 and my moving rating is 1,450 then if I am playing NMPZ I'd be placed with 1,150 rated players, and if I am playing moving, then I'd be placed with 1,450 rated players.

Absolutely a must. I'm usually in the same position as the OP. But it can also work the other way - yesterday I had a moving duel with someone with an overall rating of 1,350 or so (slightly higher than me), but with a moving rating of 1,800 (much higher than me). Not an ideal match...
Phineas
ok, but can there still be an overall rating?
ActionFish
Phineas Sure, why not! It just wouldn't affect matchmaking.

Yes please!

Yes, this is a much discussed feature on the GG subreddit too and it has been requested by many pros who are specialized in one game mode only. Having separate ELOs without the matchmaking following doesn't make much difference for the competitive experience.
