Make max zoom level consistent for all 3 map sizes
Vols and Jezuz
Players can choose between 3 different sizes for the map using the ↖ and ↘ buttons.
On the smallest and largest map sizes, the max zoom level cuts off basically anything west of the continental US and anything east of Japan. So to be able to guess in Hawaii, Alaska, max-west Canada, or most of Oceania, you first have to drag the map to get them on screen. Anytime you have to drag + zoom, it is way slower and less precise than being able to simply hover your cursor over the target and zoom. This is particularly detrimental any time you are having to beat the clock to get a guess in.
The medium map size does not suffer from this problem—the International Date Line is fully visible on both sides.
When you change the map size from small to medium, it keeps the map zoomed at the same size and just expands the visible area. But when going from medium to large, the map zooms in one level, which ends up cutting off the sides again.
My request is to make the full width of the world map visible for all 3 map sizes. I know that the ideal zoom level to accomplish this for each size is likely not possible due to the zoom level steps imposed by Google Maps API. The small map size could simply be widened by ~260 pixels to show everything all the way out to the International Date Line. The large map size really shouldn't be widened, because it would reduce what can be seen in Street View behind the map (for stuff like lining up roads or searching for placenames from a road sign). Instead, when changing from medium to large, I believe it would be preferable to keep the map zoomed at the same size instead of zooming in a level.
