Filtering or blurring out offensive images
Ben
As a paying member, I send out a weekly challenge to my company via slack. It's a great way to end a week, where we build community and have fun (it's also a way for me to spread the joy of GeoGuessr). Today, an image on the final map of our game ('White Power' graffiti on a 'Europe' challenge map. This was the exact spot and direction in which the map started) was flagged as offensive and triggering to a colleague of mine, and I agree with them. I can imagine others from my company who play weekly would also be offended.
There may not be a way to filter these opening locations out of GeoGuessr, or a way to blur out hateful language, but if there is it would go a long way in ensuring GeoGuessr remains an inclusive game.
Thanks,
Ben

They dont own Google Maps.
They have zero control over what google maps blurs out.
You have an issue with it, take it up with google.....but I'll warn you now, they wont do anything about this, or else they would have to open up to the idea of blurring millions of frames around the world with things some other culture might find offensive.

Please if anyone from GeoGuessr is reading this can you please just advise Ben and his colleagues to give their heads a wobble and get a grip. The world isn’t their safe space.
Ben
CalCapital Just trying to have some empathy and look out for my colleagues. Have a great day!

Ben please keep your empathy to yourself when it negatively affects others and asks the majority to pander to the few
Ben
CalCapital Aww, Cal. You seem upset :(
