Lots of new updates and fixes have been happening on GeoGuessr. Here's what the teams have been doing up until 16th May 2025. Enjoy!
Single Player
- We've release a new Community Maps page, with brand new search filters.
We also addressed the Community feedback on things we missed:
- Added verified map icon to cards
- Made the creator’s name clickable
- Increased the size of the like button
- Last played and last updated information now shows on the new Map Page
- Added report map button
Not only that, we have made some improvements to the sorting of Community Quizzes. You can filter based on topics but upvoting or downvoting quizzes will change the what you see on the page.
- After completing a Quiz the continue butto here will now redirect back to the start page for that quiz, as opposed to Spin the Wheel Page.
Last but not least you can now see a Live player count in Community and Classic Maps.
Homepage
We've updated the home page with a brand new look!
This is adapted to your play style and will give you a clearer overview of what matters,
- Quick access to your most recently played games.
- Fresh updates and active events.
- Easy access to those sweet daily coins.
- The new home of the daily mission.
This is a first pass on the new Homepage and you can expect more to follow.
Mobile
We released the APAC Season, in conjunction with the APAC majors. Play through the season to earn a cool hat for your avatar!
Win Streak is also live! Guess correctly and build up your steak to earn bonus points and tickets.
Multiplayer
We released the GeoGuessr Steam Edition.
You can either create a new account through Steam or link your existing GeoGuessr account to bring your level, rank and other progress along. The Steam Editions is in early access, and we plan to add more to this title over time.
Free players can enjoy:
- Unlimited Amateur Division
- Unlimited Unranked Team Duels

Some other notable updates:
- Updated leaderboard design for ranked Solo Duels.
- New UI for competitive Team Duels, to match the Solo Duels UI.

- New UI for Investigations.
- Open Major qualification race completed.
- New World Championship page and sub-pages for the Majors.
- Added support for Japanese Yen on Steam

Community
We have added some new features based on your submissions to the feature request board!
- On a players profile where it shows your friends in common, you can now click to see exactly who those are!
- We have added the ability to see a profile account's creation date.. Simply hover over the player's name to see the date!
Seterra
We have recently added highscores for Custom Challenges. The creator of the challenge can see all scores, the best or first score of players.
We have also added new progression!
It is now possible to gather Medals on certain quizzes on the different Continents on specific quizzes.
Quizzes are based on getting knowledge on a continents:
- Countries
- Flags
- Capitals/Major Cities.
You can now put your knowledge to the test and see if you can get Platinum medal on all the continent quizzes. This is available for both Pin and Type game modes.
Other Seterra changes:
- Updated out-dated quizzes on site including wrong flags etc.
- Added a share button for Custom Challenges under MyResults.
General Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug in Classic where the medals counter was showing 115/114.
- Fixed a small bug of the report button moving out of place on the Map Page
- Fixed how long names are displayed in Community Maps cards
- Now if you are playing community Maps you only get recommended other community maps, not Classic.
