When using the Enter key to fast travel and holding it before and after the time runs out, the timer stays at 0 for what seems an unlimited amount. Clicking the arrows to switch the direction of fast travel doesn't end anything, but a click anywhere else on the screen or a stop in holding the Enter button does end the round.

This allows obviously an unlimited time of scanning and a possibility to travel more to get more infos, although with fast travel it would be hard to read. The result screen doesn't show an extended time of playing, only the set maximum time for the seed.
