Round timed out before end of timer

Hi, I recently experienced an early timeout during today’s (2026-06-08) daily challenge https://www.geoguessr.com/game/yIQa04XsKlfKuwRb/replay (1min49 timeout on the first round)
This seemed to occur after a major lag when loading a panorama. Note that I have an excellent network bandwidth, but my computer sometimes struggles to decode multiple images at once.
Apparently I‘m not the first person to have encountered the issue, e.g. https://www.geoguessr.com/community/bug-reports/p/timed-out-after-39-sec-on-1st-round but other threads were closed without a fix.
I suspect the issue might be related to anti-cheating measures to prevent tampering with timekeeping (since such lags may cause inconsistencies in browser-side time-related functions), but the current behavior of defaulting to an automatic timeout is detrimental to users with average specs. If my hunch about anti-cheating is correct, there should be no such false positives.
Browser: Firefox 151.0.3
Thank you in advance.

Should be resolved. Raise again in case of any issues along with screen-recording and possibly the HAR file as well (can be sent to support and not uploaded here)

Filip Thank you Filip. Could you please let me know when the fix dropped? As per my message yesterday, I had the issue again with the new UI.
Anyway I’ll try to provide a video and network logs if it reoccurs.

Happened again today without any lag this time https://www.geoguessr.com/game/35MgbTBWif2H4JeM/replay
Still on Firefox.

This isnt related to anti-cheating measures. There are issues with Googles newest version of the browser which most recent bugs stems from. Is it the same issue if you try another browser? Do you have any scripts/plugins or extensions? If so which ones?

Filip Hello Filip, thank you for your answer. I‘m using Firefox, not Google Chrome, and the issue is related to GeoGuessr’s timer rather than something within Streetview so I don’t quite understand why the issue would come from Google here.
That being said, I‘ve encountered the issue in the past with and without extensions enabled. My browser extensions are:
- uBlock Origin
- Violentmonkey with a variety of userscripts such as learnable meta
I’ve tried using Chrome 149 without browser extensions and I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem with today’s daily challenge because I haven’t experienced lag in this case. I would need a larger sample size over a longer amount of time to tell whether the issue can or cannot be reproduced with Chrome with certainty, but I’d rather avoid switching browsers altogether.
Addendum: I’ve also had a full minute deducted from the timer after a lag in Firefox, which looks like a related issue.
