Okay, so there are like a thousand bug reports for black screens, all closed or "complete", and yet today I've been experiencing them during ranked duels on multiple occasions.
I know this has been around for a while, and we as players figured out that if you scroll during the round transition - you start with a black screen and need to refresh your page, so that the location loads. But when it starts happening without any scrolling or any interaction whatsoever, just waiting for the next round to start - it gets really annoying! I have to refresh, then hit "rejoin" and by the time my round loads the opponent is 5 to 10 seconds ahead of me, many times - they've already guessed.
After an NMPZ game earlier I tried to rewatch the replays of the rounds, because my opponent was suspicios, and all the rounds are a black screen, nothing loads. I just see them guessing on the map (see screenshot). No matter how many refreshes I do, it's all still black.
Why is all this happening? I am slowly getting very tired with these persisting issues. Please, do something about this soon, and issue an announcement if there's something we as players can do to steer clear of this type of experience. It's very frustrating!

Thanks to all for reporting: Can you please tell me the following:
Your device type/Specs
Do you have a stable internet connection and had one during these games (connectivity can be a cause for black screens, thats why I ask)
Please also send some example links of recent games you experienced this!
Once I have this information I will forward it on to the team as they want to do an investigation on it!

Hi, first round of the game, I got a black screen at first, then was put in Taiwan. Confidently clicked and location was in Europe. Opponent confirmed we did not get the same location to find... Looked at the replay and that's exactly what it shows. Is it possible to remove this loss and ELO from my profile? Thank you.

every like 3-5 games, the first round everyone gets a black or white screen or map is completely white when loading in.
thats been a thing for so long, pls fix

Since GeoGuessr uses Google Maps/Street View coverage, the image quality and loading can sometimes be imperfect depending on the location and coverage available. However, black screens or heavily pixelated imagery should not be happening consistently.
Could you please let us know if this issue happens in every game you play, or only on certain maps or modes? If possible, screenshots or a short screen recording would also help us investigate further.

UNPLAYABLE GAME- has blackscreen since day one for me. thats like 500 days. Keep it going with the store items tho guys..

I have the same issue for at least 3 weeks, it has been impossible to play. My husband and I have the same issue even using different computers and different browsers. When this is going to be fixed? I can't play ranked matches anymore because it is all frozen and I keep losing it.

In the Brazilian community, several colleagues are reporting difficulties with black screens, blur, and slowness.
I also found some threads on Reddit about the topic, which I'll share, so it seems to be a general problem.

Sorry I missed your comment, otherwise I would've responded sooner.
I am using a desktop PC with Opera GX browser. Specs are in the attachment, all running on Windows 10 Pro 22H2.
It's late to add links to the games, because many duels have passed since then.

I've experienced this while playing on Firefox first 2 days, but after I switched to Chrome, I haven't had any for the next few days till now.
Also impressed, that scrolling during the round transition indeed makes the screen black, even using Chrome

So i also get black screen often and sometimes i have to refresh like 3 times to get to see the street view. As for the replays you can see what i mean, its always the same place in different rounds:

ShoferoV, I understand what you're trying to say.
The interesting thing about your game replay (from my perspective) is that I see the black screen until I specifically click on
your
Round 2, and then the same Ireland loc appears in every round after that. I don't actually see the Round 6 Brazil loc that you see in your youtube video.(o _ o)
